Admittance and reality

Boing Boing: Apple to add Trusted Computing to the new kernel?

I have to admit...I was a windows only boy for the longest time. As a desktop app coder and a database guy, I went to windows. Access, SQL, vb, c#, asp...you name it I was there. I branched out to Java, Oracle, mySQL, etc...

In doing so, I have become very familiar with OS X. To describe my current setup, I am on a t42 laptop with WinXP, I have a Win2000 server at my feet, a G4 next to it, a red hat linux box next to that, and a big ass dell server that I will be setting up either FreeBSD or linux on under that. Yeah...it is horrible and a mess. Thank God for lcd monitors!!

Anyway...if it is really true that this is being built into the kernel, I may have a problem. I have been contemplating, for a while, whether or not to move to a complete OS X environment for my desktop computing. It just fits with everything that I do...but this scares me a bit.

Perhaps linux on the desktop will get to the point for me where I can use that completely. Who knows. My development will still need to be tested and developed for multiple platforms, BUT...what is the easiest, safest and most efficient for me to get my work done.

Hopefully we will look back on these days and laugh about the different standards across each platform and lock ins that each make us bow to.
