Amazing and sad
When I see there panoramas of the moon landing I am still in awe. On the 36th anniversary of mankind landing there, the images still astound me. It is so incredibly barren, rough, lonely, and gorgeous. The earth was just a small object in the sky. They were singing! What a feeling it must have been to go through the trials, the tests, the schooling, to finally make there to explore for all mankind.
Won't it be nice when our children are able to make trips there? Our children will dream of exploring farther planets...I am jealous!

Wow
In all of the Iraq mess, it is easy to take sides and say who is evil, who is good, etc. I have tried to stay out of the fray on most of it...my upbringing as a Navy Brat provides me with strong beliefs and I live in the Bay Area which also provides some strong beliefs. So I end up staying quiet some times. This story and video, though, are just amazing. Holy shit!
Back to Basics - Egg and Muffin Toaster - Home
This is my new favorite thing in the world. If anyone wants to get me one, I am in!! I will test it, use it, and hopefully love it for many years to come.

What a ride
When I come downtown, I take the J train from Dolores Park. Usually a very uneventfull ride. However, this time we broke down and stopped moving as we entered the tunnel behind the Safeway. So we sat there for a bit waiting to get going. We finally made it to the Van Ness stop and the front door wouldn't close!
I gave up and took the muni on the street!

Dana got a new place!
Dana found a new place to live. That should finally give a little footing to life after chasing around for soooo long dealing with her old moldy place. I am sooooo happy for her.

Ruby on Rails/AJAX
I have been reading quite a bit on AJAX and Ruby on Rails. I have finally installed it and started playing with it and am quite impressed. I have to note, our application at Three Deep was a full AJAX app, though it did maintain a much larger basis of data on the client side. However, we were doing a full desktop app way back then!
One of the features that I found "cute" when ROR was first starting to publicize everything were the different methods for fades. I totally understood the drag and drops, however, the fades didn't hit me as that huge. What's the big deal?
As I have started seeing more and more implementations, I am really impressed. Odeo has beautiful implementations of them. I was REALLY impressed with the log in functionality. One of the slickest I have ever seen. So damn cool.
So...I am sold. Awesome.

Crooks and Liars
The Rove/Plume/Cooper story has really taken off in the last couple of days. I don't think I have ever seen someone dance like this behind a podium. My favorite portion of the jousting is at the finish when Terry Moran is posting questions and McClellan throws out a partial answer of, "it was after that period that the investigators asked had requested that we not get into commmenting on an ongoing investigation." When Moran follows up on the partial answer, McClellan jumps back to his party line.
Here comes our yearly excitement from Washington...this one is going to get ugly.
